There’s also one of Australia’s tallest buildings, the Q1, with the Skydeck overlooking from the ocean to the mountains and everywhere in between. To the south of the Coast is Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, it’s best to set aside a day to see, meet and learn about Australia’s incredible flora and fauna. Cuddle a koala, skip with the kangaroos and watch a croc in close up encounters, during shows or from afar as they nap in peace. As a heritage-listed zoological garden, the conservation and wildlife rescue aspects of the sanctuary are incredible to see. It’s hard to find a suburb on the Gold Coast without any type of accommodation. In Southport, you can relax in serviced apartments or indulge in luxury hotels and resorts in Main Beach or Surfers Paradise. Along the Gold Coast Highway are many holiday parks, motels, hotels and places to rest your head. If you’re looking to do some shopping, you’ll be spoilt for choice on the GC. Further inland, you can spend hours cruising the shops at Robina Town Centre, or travel further north to Harbour Town to burn some hard-earned cash at the retail outlets. Of course, you can’t forget Pacific Fair, Australia Fair or the various Westfields, Stocklands and other shopping precincts up and down the coast. The Gold Coast population is continually growing, currently sitting around the 600,000 mark, making it the sixth largest city in Australia. Due to the ever-growing population, the real estate market is almost always thriving, with home buyers and renters looking to snatch up apartments, units, townhouses, rural properties and houses in the best suburbs. When flying from Sydney to the Gold Coast, expect about an hour flight, while you’re looking at around 2 hours from Melbourne. It’s also only an hour to drive from Brisbane, so it’s easy to fit multiple regions in one.
