Ormeau is a Gold Coast Hinterland town in Queensland positioned mid way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast in the northern growth corridor.
The suburb covers both sides of the M1 Motorway with the most northern area named Norfolk Village, which sits above the lower portion known as Ormeau Hills. On the Eastern side of the freeway there are several developments near the extensive Jacobs Ridge.
The name Ormeau is derived from the French name meaning “young elm”, coming from the name of an estate named “Ormeau House” in the 1860’s.
