About Runaway Bay

Runaway Bay is a northern suburb on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Situated on the Coast, the area comprises a labyrinth of artificial canals, lined with some spectacular residential homes and South Stradbroke Island located to the east. Originally better known as Anglers Paradise the area is a “fishing feast” whose waterways offer up local snapper, kingfish, pearl perch, tuna and more.
Runaway Bay Shopping Centre is a major retail outlet on the Gold Coast, housing Aldi’s, Big W, Coles, a medical centre, and other local conveniences and popular franchise stores.
A major landmark to Runaway Bay is Pine Ridge Conservation Park, attached to the Sports Super Centre, a one stop sport, health and lifestyle centre with numerous facilities, comprising an open-air gym, 400 metre track, beach volleyball, Sports Medicine clinic, 50 metre indoor pool and more. The centre also offers group lodgings, sports training camps, and educational camps, all utilised not only by the local community but also by travelling teams from around the world.
Runaway Bay has a local library, tavern, junior leagues club, cricket club and one primary school, St Francis Xavier Catholic School.
The prestigious Runaway Bay Marina, along with the resident Yacht Squadron located just outside of the suburb boundaries north in Hollywell and offers first class facilities and services encompassing marina berths, dry stack boat storage, a maintenance shipyard, commercial centre, cafés and upcoming residential developments.
