Tugun is situated on the south-eastern region of Gold Coast and Hinterland, Queensland. The suburban community is roughly 88 kilometres away from the capital city of Brisbane. The word “tugun” literally means “breaking waves.” The beachside town of Tugun is geographically bounded by several landscapes and seascapes, such as Mount Woodgee, Cobaki Broadwater and Terranora Broadwater, among others. Tugun has a number of adjacent tourist spots as well. Some of these are Beach Bum Safaris, which offers multiday tours around the surf culture and lifestyle of the Southern Gold Coast, and David Fleay Wildlife Park, which was established by Australian naturalist, David Fleay, during the 1950s. The vicinity of Tugun is mainly connected by the Elanora train station and the Gold Coast Airport. Town visitors who wish to spend time in the area may choose from various nearby hotels, like Sanctuary Lake Apartments, Sentosa on Tugun and Little Cove Currumbin, to name a few.
