Hollywell is a suburb under the Gold Coast local government area of Queensland. It is situated 60 kilometres away from Brisbane’s central business district.
In the 1880s, the land around Hollywell was primarily used for farming. But in the 1960s, the building of canals and reclamation of land prompted significant development in the area. Hollywell has access to several shopping centres, parks and sports facilities that cater to the recreational needs of residents and tourists.
Hollywell is close to Pine Ridge Conservation Park, which protects the remaining wallum on the Gold Coast, including banksia woodland, heath and paperbark swamp forests. Adventurers can visit the park to escape from the noise of the city and find sanctuary in the company of nature. The park offers great opportunities for bird watching, and wildflowers can be seen blooming there in late winter and spring.
