Guanaba is a suburb in Gold Coast that consists of acres of land dedicated to the equestrian community. Sometime in the 1800s, the Europeans who first came to Guanaba thrived on growing bananas, dairy farming and timber getting. These were the first industries in Guanaba. By the 1920s, the population in the area increased, with most families having children. Because of this, The Education Department opened a school. Guanaba had a closely-knit community. A few years after, the number of students attending the school increased.
Today, Guanaba is a semi-rural community focused on the equestrian community. The Gold Coast Polo and Country Club is found in the suburb. Many tourists and locals visit the equestrian centres to learn horseback riding.
