Bundaberg may have been founded in 1867, however it wasn’t surveyed, laid out or named until 1870. By 1872, there were roughly 200 people living in the town, taking advantage of the timber work, which the town was established for. In the following years, the timber supplies dried up, making way for corn production, followed by sugar manufacturing, which it is still known for today.
