Cardiff is a suburban town located in the local government area of the City of Lake Macquarie in the state of New South Wales. Its name was adopted in 1889 in reference to the capital of Wales in England. The suburb’s public infrastructure and facilities include three government primary schools and a Catholic primary school, a government high school and an independent school. Other amenities in Cardiff include a hotel, post office, take away shops, real estate agencies, a video store, hairdressers, supermarket and four opportunity shops. Different clubs for sports such as the Warners Bay-Cardiff Junior Cricket Club, Cardiff-Boolaroo District Cricket Club, Cardiff Cougars, Cardiff Cobras, Cardiff Bowling Club and the Cardiff Netball Club are also present in the suburb.
