About Cabarita Beach

Cabarita Beach is a small town that was originally named Bogangar, an Aboriginal word that means “place of many pippies”, the ceremonial shell middens found within the area. With wetlands and beaches surrounding the suburb, it’s no wonder that it is a popular destination for those seeking a laid-back lifestyle. The waters are ideal for swimming, canoeing, fishing and surfing.
The laid-back community feel of Cabarita Beach is echoed through the shops, hotel and cafes in the area. Because of the relaxed lifestyle the area offers, it is very popular among visitors as well. The beach area is renowned for surfing and many carnivals are hosted here each year.
