Nightcliff is a suburban community located in the local government area of the City of Darwin in the Northern Territory region. Historical records show that Nightcliff’s name was somehow taken from written accounts of John Lort Stokes’ voyage into the area in September 8, 1839. Royal Australian Air Force camps used to settle in the town’s foreshore as a defence tactic during World War II.
Among the common facilities within the area’s vicinity include building contractors, state schools, service stations and shopping centres. Tourism is a major part of the local economy. Through the nearby Darwin International Airport, local and foreign tourists are provided with easy access to Nightcliff’s attractions.
