About Lyons

Lyons is a small suburban town located in the local government area of the Darwin City Council in the Northern Territory. The town was named after Tommy Imabulg Lyons as a form of commemoration. The suburb was newly established with the construction of new properties in its western part. Before its gazettal on July 7, 2004, Lyons used to be part of the Lee Point district. There are several major features, tourist landmarks and recreational facilities near and within Lyons include the Lyons Community Centre, Tracy Village Social & Sports Club, Casuarina Coastal Reserve, Leanyer Recreation Park, RAAF Bombing and Gunnery Range, Hibiscus Shoppingtown, Holmes Jungle Nature Park, Dripstone Park, Garanmanuk Park, Peace Park, Dripstone Caves and the Casuarina Beach.
