Castle Doyle is a town within the local government area of the Gladstone Region in Queensland. The region was establish in 2008 when the City of Gladstone, Shire of Calliope and Shire of Miriam Vale merged in accordance to the Local Government Reform Act 2007. Castle Doyle is located in an area that is peppered with many well-known tourist destinations. The Island of Southern Great Barrier Reef for instance is famous for being an excellent fishing spot. The Lady Elliot Island, about 85 kilometres away from Bundaberg, is a 3,000-year old island that has 19 dive sites. It is also the home of over 57 species of birds, with 50,000 birds flocking to the area to nest during the summer.
