Maroochy River is a suburb on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. It is named after a river located in South East Queensland where significant floods have occurred over the years. The suburb has several heritage-listed sites, one of which is the Dunethin Rock, a popular attraction for tourists on a budget. The Dunethin Rock Scout Camp for instance has canoes for rent for as little as $10. Opposite the camp is the path leading to Dunethin Lake, which is part of the Maroochy River Trail network. The lake was famous back in 1916 as the location for a water sports festival but is now a sort of hidden gem in the area. Few people know about the lake’s beautiful views and mangroves. Those who visit the area can partake of several activities, such as canoeing and kayaking.
