Goomeri, located on the intersection of Wide Bay Highways and Burnett, Bunya, is a small town in Queensland. The town got its name from the Aboriginal word that means “broken shield”. Goomeri is a quiet place filled with structures that were built in the 1920s. It has an old-world charm that provides a relaxing atmosphere for residents and visitors. Goomeri is also called “Clocktown” because of the clock landmark that was erected in town in 1939.
Visitors flock to Goomeri to get a taste of its gourmet offerings. Various restaurants and cafes line the streets of the town, from country food to fine dining. Award-winning pies, olives, cheeses and wines are some of the treats Goomeri offers its residents and visitors.
The town holds the annual Goomeri Pumpkin Festival held in May. The festival holds a variety of special events and competitions for everyone to enjoy. Street markets that sell goods made of pumpkin are also open.
