A suburb of Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Golden Beach is situated in the Caloundra urban centre and directly southwest of the Caloundra central business district. Settlement in the area was established beginning in the late 19th century, its lands tended mostly for farming and grazing. By the 1950s, the development of the suburb began, and continued rapidly from the 1960s to the 1980s. Today, Golden Beach, with its beachfront resorts and residential properties for rent, is a popular destination for boating, fishing and picnics. The calm waters of Pumicestone Passage, protected by the northern tip of Bribie Island, also make Golden Beach an ideal location for swimming. Those who want to go surfing may also want to head to the surf beaches of Caloundra nearby.
