Marian is a suburban town located in the local government area of the Mackay Regional Council in the state of Queensland. The town’s name was taken from the non-operational Marian railway station, which was thought to be derived from the name of a local property known as Mary Ann. Among the oldest structures in the suburb include the Marian Mill Post Office that has been open since January 1, 1909. Its name was later changed to Marian in 1910. A museum that features the historic Melba House and the Pioneer Valley Visitor Information Centre are also found in Marian. The Marian sugar refinery plant, which is one of the biggest sugar refineries in Australia, is also located in the suburb.
