Woodroffe is located 16 kilometres from Darwin, the capital city of Northern Territory. It is one of the 18 suburbs that are under the governance of the City of Palmerston. Palmerston is in turn under the Solomon federal division and the Drysdale state district. The name of this inner city suburb is taken from a Surveyor General who was assigned to survey Northern Territory land in the late 19th century, George Woodroffe Goyder.
Woodroffe is approximately 21 kilometres from Darwin airport, and it takes a taxi about 21 minutes travel time to get there.
