Alpurrurulam is a suburban community in the Northern Territory. Also known as Lake Nash, the town used to have an Alpurrurulam Community Government Council, but it was disbanded and Alpurrurulam became part of the local government area of Barkly Shire. It was in 1984 that the town was established as a separate area from the Lake Nash Station. However, the suburb’s cultural bond with the lake remains firm. Among the suburb’s public infrastructure include a commercial store, a school and a medical clinic. Alpurrurulam is at the forefront of creating safer communities, in 2007, a Liquor Restricted Area was established to help foster a safer environment within the community.
