A village under the Ballina Shire local government area on the Far North Coast of New South Wales, Tintenbar is located 11 kilometres northwest of Ballina, 70.9 kilometres east of Casino, 21.8 kilometres south of Bangalow and 754 kilometres northeast of Sydney. The Pacific Highway crosses through the town and runs parallel to Tamarind Drive, which veers to the west and intersects with Tintenbar Road, where the town’s centre is situated. While mainly a residential rural area, the past two decades have seen a dramatic increase in Tintenbar’s population, primarily due to the construction of three large estates. Tintenbar has no public transport system, but the upgraded Pacific Highway has bike lanes on either side of it, and a number of bus routes take children to primary and high schools.
