Burringbar, named after a striking stick that resembles a boomerang, is a small town part of Tweed Shire. The town is commonly used as a stop-off location for those passing through to go to nearby towns. Burringbar is served by a general store, roadside fruit stalls and craft stores. Majority of the population in Burringbar are in their 40s. Residents can do recreational activities with the family at Burringbar Park, which consists of a multi-purpose field, clubhouse facilities and two grass fields. The park was previously used by the New Zealand hockey team and the Brisbane Womens and Juniors teams as a training camp.
