Argenton is a small suburb under the local government area of the City of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales. The name of the suburb comes from the word “argent,” the French word for silver, and “ton,” the shortened form of the word “town.” The cockle river flows through Argenton.
The historic Waratah Golf Club takes up a large portion of the Argenton suburb. The club has been frequented by avid and amateur golfers since 1901. Also located in Argenton is Kindyerra Park, which contains the Lake Macquarie BMX Club and a Mine Rescue station. Argenton Public School is located opposite Kindyerra Park. The popular Club Macquarie, which offers accommodation, dining and function facilities, is also located in Argenton.
The closest train station is Cockle Creek, located opposite Club Macquarie.
