Tumbi Umbi is a suburban town located in the local government area of the Wyong Shire Council in the state of New South Wales. The suburb’s name was reportedly derived from the Aboriginal word that means 'place of big trees.’ The first signs of growth in Tumbi Umbi mainly occurred in the1970s followed by a swift development in the 1980s. Today, the suburb has progressed into a rural-residential community. Some of the famous landmarks and recreational facilities in Tumbi Umbi include the Mingara Sportsground, Central Coast Academy of Sport, Mingara Regional Athletics Centre, Mingara Recreation Club and Aquatic Centre, Glengara Retirement Village, Parkland Gardens, Tuggerah Lakes Memorial Pistol Range, Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College (Tumbi Umbi Campus) and the St. John Fisher Catholic School.
