48watt is a beautiful 100 year old deconsecrated church situated in the heart of Newcastle. St. Philip's Presbyterian Church was built on the site in the heart of Newcastle in 1905. It has since been deconsecrated and with the generous support of Newcastle City Council, 48watt is the home of Tantrum Youth Arts. 48watt is a new and innovative arts and cultural space, and is available for hire for theatre rehearsals and productions, music events, workshops, wedding ceremonies, and other cultural and community events. We are located in close proximity to Newcastle's stunning beaches and picturesque King Edward Park and can accommodate for up to 150 people. 48watt has workshop and performance spaces available for hire. The workshop space (the Hall) is a large room - approx 12m x 10m. The Hall has mirrors on one wall and is air conditioned.
