Nelly Bay is a suburban town located in the local government area of the City of Townsville in the state of Queensland. The suburb is considered to be an important tourism centre on the Magnetic Island due to the location of a ferry terminal in Nelly Bay. The terminal connects the suburb and the island to Townsville and neighbouring areas. One of the oldest structures in the suburb is the Nelly Bay Post Office, which opened on July 1, 1927. Today, some of Nelly Bay’s major features include the Magnetic Harbour that is known as the biggest infrastructure development in Magnetic Island. The project is composed different facilities such as retail services, residential homes and a ferry and barge terminal.
