Dundowran Beach is a residential town in the Hervey Bay area, located 27 kilometres north of Maryborough. The town is thought to be named after the Aboriginal word for “plum tree”. Homes in Dundowran Beach usually cost more than the other developments in Hervey Bay area because of the town’s proximity to the coast. Its namesake beach, situated on Ansons Road, is a long, tranquil beach. A few kite fliers frequent the beach, along with some joggers, but Dundowran Beach is a generally peaceful beach with few people. Nature enthusiasts looking for refuge from the city’s hustle and bustle would greatly enjoy this beach. For a more upbeat activity, the Hervey Bay Go Kart Track is only five kilometres away.
