A town and locality under the Moreton Bay Region local government area in Queensland, Beachmere is situated 38 kilometres north of Brisbane’s central business district, 11 kilometres southeast of Caboolture, 66.9 kilometres south of Sunshine Coast and 32.5 kilometres northeast of North Lakes. The town’s name, which means “beach upon marshy ground,” was derived from one of the first residences in the area. Prior to European settlement, the area was said to be of cultural and spiritual significance to local Aboriginal tribes, and a bora ring nearby, believed to have been used in initiation ceremonies, has been left intact as a way to maintain the connection to that past. Even so, Beachmere’s location along the southeastern coast of Caboolture Shire and proximity to Deception Bay has also made it one of the ideal locations for fishing and recreational boating industries in the area.
