Green Hills is a small town within the local government area of the Guyra Shire in the New England region of New South Wales. It is located on the New England Highway. The shire is halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and mostly dependent on agriculture. It is also known for producing cattle, fine wool and potatoes. Guyra was previously the home of a large regional abattoir, but the rationalisation of the meat industry forced the abattoir to close. The area experienced a resurgence in its economy when the Costa Group pinpointed Guyra as the perfect place for a glasshouse complex for growing tomatoes. Guyra has a unique weather combination: high light levels and temperatures that don’t exceed 30 degrees during the summer.
