Lake Cathie is a small town on the coast of New South Wales approximately 18 kilometres south of Port Macquarie. It is bypassed by the Pacific Highway and surrounded by Queens Lake State Forest and Lake Innes Nature Reserve.
A popular tourist destination, and a feature of the area is the lake itself, a tidal lake fed by the ocean daily. Several times during the year the lake is closed due to shifting sands and at times has an unusual colour due to the tannins in the natural flora and fauna. When open it is an excellent swimming spot for all ages, has a picnic and barbeque area and play equipment for children. It is also a popular place for fishing enthusiasts.

A renowned landmark in the township is the Worlds Largest Bowling Ball. The big blue ball is one of Australia’s 150 “large” sculptures.
