Lambton is a suburb in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley Region, which is located northeast of the capital of NSW, Sydney. Lambton is in the Newcastle sub region around 115 kilometres from Sydney. This is a residential suburb that is located along the main road 8 kilometres from the central business district of Newcastle.
Lambton holds the distinction as the very first town in Newcastle to have electricity. This town is also mentioned in the sporting history books for being the location of the first ever organised football game played in the continent.
Lambton started out as a coal-mining town. The miners were fond of dog races and gambling.
