Balladoran is a town located within the local government area of the Gilgandra Shire in the Orana region of New South Wales. The shire is adjacent to the junction of the Castlereagh, Newell and Oxley highways. It is about six hours away from the Sydney central business district. The shire is well-known for being home to some part of the Warrumbungles National Park, a heritage-listed national park that covers over 23,000 hectares of land. A very popular tourist attraction, the park attracts about 35,000 visitors every year. It is situated within the Pilliga Important Bird area because it is the home of many woodland bird species. The park has four campsites with free electric barbecues but a permit is needed before camping.
