Mycar

It is not often someone walks away from an unexpected mechanical breakdown happy but I am writing this review because for people who want to “trust” their mechanic and feel like the work was done well at an above average fair price, this is the place to go. With a smoking hot engine after a routine shop at Smithfield, I feared my car was on fire and about to blow a head gasket. Late afternoon I went to them as the nearest mechanic available in meltdown mode (my car too)! The owner and crew immediately went to search for a part (leaking radiator) and despite it being late in the afternoon, asked if I had an alternative car or someone to pick me up as they would need a day. I needed my car… no backup. Owner and another mechanic said they would stay late and arranged for part from Cairns. A good mechanic with heart? Look no further…. I will, by choice, always choose to use them in the future. Very grateful. Moni Carlisle

The team at Smithfield Car Diagnostics are always professional, communicate in a timely manner and are helpful. After using their services for six years for multiple vehicles, I would highly recommend them.

Warrick and the lads at Tuff Tyres Gordonvale were awesome. I have a 73 Corvette and it has a hard tyre size to get. I have been trying with other companies and internet suppliers to get these specific tyre size. Some companies not even interested. In one call Warrick had located the tyres and had them in Cairns the next day. Price from Tuff Tyres cheaper than anywhere else with no 2 month wait. Then I went back and got a wheel alignment for the Corvette and to have the lad who is working on your pride and joy tell you he lives for days like these to work on cars like mine was really great to hear. He put several hours in to get it right. If you have an old school car or classic vehicle take it to Warrick and the lads at Tuff Tyres Gordonvale you won’t regret it. I will be back there in the future. Thanks Tuff Tyres Gordonvale.

DC plugged a punctured tyre for my JCU hire car not long ago. They did a great job, and had me on the road in less than 45mins. Much appreciated, as we had to drive all the way to Townsville urgently. I suspect we'd jumped the queue, as we'd only called them that morning. great staff and great job - couldn't ask for more.

Need cheap new or used tyres?

Choosing the reight set of Tyres

A top-notch set of tyres not only works wonders for stability but also gives a leg up to fuel efficiency. When cooking up new tyres, manufacturers have their work cut out for them – they must factor in grip, handling, comfort, and longevity. It's practically an art and science combined. Car tyres aren't just there to make your ride look snazzy; they're the unsung heroes keeping us safe on the road. And let's face it, safety is where it's at!

Picking the right tyre size is no small potatoes – if they're too big or small, you could throw a wrench in your ride quality and fuel efficiency. Plus, you'd run the risk of doing a number on your suspension components! So do yourself a favour; treat those tyres like those killer kicks you've got your eye on.

Made from some high-tech synthetic rubber compounds with just a dash of secret sauce (well... maybe not exactly top-secret), tyres are engineered to rise above all sorts of challenges out there on the open road. After all, nobody wants to cruise around on bald tyres! They can take the heat or cold and even laugh in the face of wet conditions to keep aquaplaning at bay.

Those wicked cool tread patterns etched into your tyres? They are more than just pretty faces; they bolster grip by shooing water away from under your wheels when things get soggy.

Don't skimp on tyre TLC: keep tabs on pressure levels, make sure they are distributed evenly around your vehicle, and give 'em a good ol' rotation now and then. A quick pressure check should become part of your monthly ritual.
