A safety certificate is an inspection conducted by a qualified mechanic to determine a vehicle is safe for use on the road and to carry passengers. Safety certificates in Mackay are subject to the regulations laid out by the Queensland Government Department of Transport and Main Roads. Safety certificates may
also be referred to as roadworthy certificates, RWC, or more informally as “roadies”. Safety certificates apply to all cars, motorbikes and trailers including caravans and any other vehicle with a GVM of under 4500kgs. A Certificate of Inspections applies to heavier vehicles and those used for public transport including taxis.
