Railway Friendly Bar is a Byron Bay restaurant and music venue. We have a wide selection of menu items including fresh local seafood and light snacks to go with something from the bar. There is a great little music venue, bar and restaurant - right on the old Railway Station in Byron Bay . It's the only pub in Australia to have featured live music seven nights a week, for over 30 years. The official name of the Railway Hotel in Byron Bay is "The Railway Friendly Bar" but the locals affectionately refer to it as "The Rails'. . .

Inspired by Moroccan architecture and the Greek Islands, The Mez Club opened its doors in September 2016 and is renowned for its beautiful styling and feel good vibe. First established in 1892, rebuilt in 1897 & 1936 after fires burnt the first two versions to the ground, the 1936 rebuild is the Great Northern you see today. The “front bar” is a perfect example of a proper, old Australian Hotel Bar, rich with character and great place to have a beer and watch some live sport. Not to mention the top-quality live music by the very best blues, rock & folk artists the Northern Rivers region has to offer. Several renovations through the years has given us the current layout, including the back room which was added in 1994.
