O’Mara’s Hotel was built in 1910-11 on the site of the original single story hotel. The Sportsman’s Arm’s Hotel as it was known had been operating in Maryland Street since 1873 until it was destroyed by fire. The proprietor Mr Michael Mara changed his name at that time to Michael O’Mara and so the new larger, double story hotel took on the name of O’Mara’s Hotel and has been known as that ever since. The hotel still has the Olde World Charm that made O’Mara’s a big part of Stanthorpe life. There is even a resident ghost that still makes an appearance now and again. O’Mara’s is the place to go when celebrating anything from birthdays to christenings, from small intimate groups to large parties. The friendly atmosphere makes you feel at home straight away and it is also a great place to sit and have a lovely meal with a local wine, a cold beer or a hot coffee with friends.

Established in 1998 by Spanish couple, Tom and Cath Jimenez. At the time their vision to experiment with alternative varieties was iconoclastic for the region – a tradition continued today at Ridgemill Estate. Fast forward to 2004, leading Brisbane project manager, Martin Cooper, was contracted to manage the development of the Queensland College of Wine Tourism. While building the college, he’d developed a love for the landscape, the lifestyle and the wines of the Granite Belt. During his opportunities to explore he stumbled across Emerald Hill. Martin was drawn to its natural beauty and the great promise of its wines. Seven days later the Cooper family purchased the property. We endeavour to minimise our intervention in the winemaking process, at the same time we stand by our promise to you, to create wines that have elegance and finesse.

Stannum Lodge Motor Inn offers exceptionally clean accommodation just a short walk or drive from the center of Stanthorpe.
