Over the past few years I have been studying Interior Decorating & Design while jointly running Darwin-based carpentry and maintenance business, Dave Brown All Round, with my Carpenter husband, David. It started with school holidays spent on residential building sites in southern New Zealand with my Builder Dad, watching foundations be dug and poured, reading plans, watching walls go up, stairwells installed, chewing the ear off various tradesmen and property neighbours, learning to use a nail gun, sweeping floors, watching lambs be born on farms, making friends with the kids in the street, riding my bike past the most beautiful homes on the most exquisitely named streets (cue Cherry Drive!) and seeing the final home ready for handover. There was also helping re-decorating my bedroom when I was 6, the frequent re-arranging of our living room and my bedroom while my parents were at work on a Saturday morning and dreaming about moving out and having my own space to design and decorate! Life lead me to developing other passions including tourism, travel, photography, writing, and motherhood. I love and care about people and learning their stories and about their places. I am an environmentalist and care about how we treat the earth. And I am always the person in the audience who has a question…..or five! I’m a lifelong learner, always up for a new experience, a different perspective and love diversity and storytelling. I bring this into my work and creativity, approaching each project as an opportunity to invest your personality, story and passions into your space, creating a place of joy and belonging. As well as being creative, planning, logistics and coordination are my jam, keeping your project running smoothly and on time! I have an eye for detail, work to a budget and work with Trade subcontractors who are professional, reliable and offer a high quality of work.
