Compared to all other kart tracks in Australia, Mako Trac is easily the best. Great customer service. All staff are very helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to all things karting and racing. The broadest range of quality karts available. Easily the best maintained karts, I've seen, and something for everyone from small children all the way up to the budding racer. If that weren't enough, there are two tracks available, also. I no longer bother wasting my money at any Melbourne or Sydney go-kart tracks and just wait for my next trip to the Mako Trac - definitely worth the wait and the trip to Mareeba!

I went to the Herberton Mining Museum on the recommendation of the Herberton Historic Village. Whilst it is a great display - I tried toask the two older gentlemen questions as my family had been working on the tin mines there so I keen to find out more info. They were indifferent and more interested in listening to music or something on their phones and TV - it was really disappointing after attending the informative historic village. I do realise these are volunteer positions.

About
Only three and a half hours drive from Cairns and four hours from Townsville in Tropical North Queensland, you'll discover a land so different in contrasts, Undara. Undara Experience, set in pristine Savannah woodlands has been in the care of the Collins family, the original pioneers of this region in 1862. For over 150 years they have been the custodians of one of the best preserved lava tubes systems on Earth. Closely situated to the Savannah Way and easily accessed by conventional vehicle, Undara Experience is on the edge of the Undara Volcanic National Park. The Undara Lava Tubes are a natural geological phenomenon. Huge tubes formed approximately 190,000 years ago; molten lava drained out under a thick cooler crust, leaving a series of long, hollow tubes. Today, highly trained Savannah guides conduct small group tours into the lava tubes where visitors marvel at this impressive geological wonder. The wildlife at sunset tour is not to be missed. Enjoy refreshments as the sun sets. As dusk settles, a visit to the entrance of Barker's Tube allows you to witness the amazing bat emergence as literally thousands of micro bats leave to feed at night. Winner of 'Unique Accommodation' at the Australian Tourism Awards, Undara Experience offers a variety of accommodation options from restored turn-of-the-century railway carriages to beautifully appointed Pioneers Huts. Budget options include the Swags Tent Village. Shady camping and powered sites also available. The Fettlers Iron Pot Bistro boasts superb country style meals using the freshest local produce served in the ambiance of Undara Central. Awaken your taste buds to the bush with the Bush Breakfasts served at the Ringer's Camp. Opera in the Outback in October is an unforgettable experience as is the sister event, the Outback Country Rock and Blues festival. Both are truly remarkable experiences in a stunningly beautiful area.
