El Arish is situated in the northern part of Cairns in the Cassowary Coast Region in Queensland. The suburban community is roughly 1,293 kilometres away from the capital city of Brisbane, Australia. Its name is derived from a city in Egypt.
El Arish is geographically bounded by several landscapes and seascapes, such as Basils Peak, Mount Edna and King Reef, among others. El Arish has a number of adjacent tourist spots as well. Some of these are Flying Fish Point Caravan Park, which offers air-conditioned cabins and villas as well as outdoor facilities, and Herbert River Museum, which is located in Halifax and displays a collection of artefacts like watercolour drawings of Aboriginal objects. It also houses a lot of heritage-listed sites, including the El Arish RSL Memorial Hall.
