The locality’s seven-kilometre stretch of sandy beach on the northern end of Halifax Bay is patrolled by the Forrest Beach Surf Life-Saving Club and has an enclosure with stinger protection for swimmers. A popular recreational spot among beach-goers in Northern Queensland, the town also has several amenities geared for travellers, including a caravan park, motel, hotel, surf club, barbecue area and boat and ramp facilities.
