A rural suburb under the City of Thuringowa local government area in North Queensland, Bluewater is situated approximately 28 kilometres north of Townsville and 80.1 kilometres southeast of Ingham. It is bordered by the Coral Sea to the north, Althaus Creek to the east, Clemant State Forest to the west and Bluewater Park to the south. Settlement in the area began in the late 19th century, but the land was only subdivided in 1946 into Bluewater Beach, Toolakea Beach, and later the Bluewater Township in the 1950s.
