Tewantin is a suburb of Noosa on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. It borders Doonella Lake on the Noosa River. It is the departure point for access to the famous North Shore beach drive, which goes all the way to Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island. Memorial Avenue runs through the centre of town.
Tewantin was originally a timber town and its name is derived from the Aboriginal word meaning “dead logs”.
However it is now a pretty suburban area that attracts tourists, surrounded by water life and activities and river themed restaurants where seafood is plentiful.
