A rural locality and outer suburb of Gympie under the local government area of Gympie Region in Queensland, Tamaree is situated 7 kilometres north of Gympie’s central business district, 5.9 kilometres east of Chatsworth, 10.7 kilometres north of Veteran, 17.1 kilometres southeast of Curra and 179 kilometres north of the state capital of Brisbane. The origin of Tamaree’s name is unknown and apparently unrecorded. In the locality’s earlier days, farming was done on the north-eastern section of Tamaree, along the expanse of forest near the north branch of the Deep Creek. During this time, the settlement was also associated with the North Deep Creek locality. At present, Tamaree is primarily a rural residential area that is surrounded by greenery and dotted by a number of small businesses.
