The suburb of Mount Coolum is located approximately 100 kilometres from Brisbane, Queensland’s state capital. Meanwhile, the suburb is 11 kilometres from Maroochydore. Mount Coolum is on the famous Sunshine Coast and is included in the Fairfax federal electorate. Majority of the current residents of the suburb were born in the country, while the rest were originally from New Zealand, South Africa and European countries such as Germany and the United Kingdom. Within the boundaries of the suburb are enclosed the northern part of the Mount Coolum National Park. The landmark mountain, which bears the same name as the town, is also in the area. The beachfront is a favourite local attraction for surfers and anglers. There are other recreational facilities available in the suburb, such as a golf course and a shopping centre.
