Lake Macdonald is a suburb located in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, under the local government of Shire of Noosa. The suburb is mostly a rural and residential area. A couple of the tourist attractions in the area lie on the lake’s shoreline””Cooroora Scout Camp and the Noosa Botanic Gardens, both established in the 1980s. The Six Mile Dam that impounds the reservoir also called Lake Macdonald is located adjacent to the suburb. The main purpose of the dam is to provide potable water to the Sunshine Coast Region. The dam was completed in 1865 and is 15.7 metres high and 490 metres long. Horse riding, boating and canoeing are popular activities near Lake Macdonald. Fishing is allowed in the lake but requires a special permit.
