A suburb of the Sunshine Coast Region local government area in Queensland, Kuluin is situated 5 kilometres west of the central business district of Maroochydore, 4.4 kilometres west of Sunshine Coast and 103 kilometres north of Brisbane. The residential suburb’s name is believed to be derived from an Aboriginal word that means “black swan.” Prior to its declaration as a suburb in 1991, Kuluin was an area shared by Maroochydore and Buderim. The suburb is home to several parks and sporting venues, such as the Maroochydore Regional Soccer Complex, Tallow Wood Drive Environmental Park and MacArthur Park. Kuluin is also a stone’s throw away from the hotels fronting the South Maroochy River, cruising and fishing tours, boat rental stores and marinas, sporting venues and parks of the neighbouring suburb of Maroochydore.
