Birtinya is a small suburban town located in the local government area of the Sunshine Coast Region in the state of Queensland. The town’s name is derived from an Aboriginal word that means “neighbouring,” which was a suggestion from developer Alfred Grant Pty Ltd on March 31, 1960. The suburb’s environment is bordered by Lake Kawana with a 2-kilometre buoyed course, which is used for flat water contests. Among the other facilities and amenities in Birtinya include the Lake Kawana Community Centre. The establishment has 15 spaces that consist of conference halls and meeting rooms. These are used during different civic functions. Since the suburb is close to the coastal area, tourists can spend time on several beaches near Birtinya.
