Currajong is a suburban town located in the local government area of the City of Townsville in the state of Queensland. The suburb’s name was supposedly taken from Edward Hunt’s West End residence in Stagpole Street. Around 1888, Hunt’s house had currajong trees planted in the residential property. One of the oldest structures in the suburb is the Currajong State School, which opened in June 28, 1954. Other schools in the area also include the Currajong Primary School. Recreational facilities such as The Lakes Holiday Park are also located in the suburb. The place is ideal for tourists that plan to take a tour of the Magnetic Island and Townsville City. Aside from tourism, there are other local businesses and services in Currajong such as motor engineers and repairers, take away food and shopping centres.
