Mount Pleasant is a small suburb situated 5 minutes west from the city centre of Mackay on the east coast of Queensland. It lies approximately 970 km’s north of the state capital, Brisbane and in close proximity to the Bruce Highway.
Blessed with elevated positions gives residents magnificent views down the Pioneer River to the coast. The landscape undulates from the river plains up towards Mount Pleasant's summit, where Annie Wood Park and the Senator Ian Wood Memorial crown the slopes.
The area contains one of Mackay’s largest concentration of shops and community services with its major hub, Mt Pleasant Shopping Centre, offering free wifi, a “kids club”, specialty stores and major retailers.
The Magpie’s Sporting Club plays host as the main entertainment venue in the area with facilities such as a modern state of the art gaming room, functions area and bistro restaurant.
Close by is a popular residential estate for retiree’s, Carlyle Gardens – Mackay. Set amongst 40 acres of landscaped tropical gardens, and offering a first class array of recreational activities for occupants, it is also well known for the annual Craft Fair and Open Day held annually in October.
