Tamborine is a suburban town located in the local government areas of the Logan City Council and the Scenic Rim Region in the state of Queensland. The town was originally named Tambourine and served as the administrative seat of the former Shire of Tamborine.
On August 24, 1874, the Tambourine Provisional School opened its doors and later adopted a new name, which was the Tambourine State School, on January 1, 1909. The school once again changed its name Tamborine State School on April 29, 1926. The school's closure occurred on July 10, 1970. The suburb also became a base camp for the U.S. Army's 32nd Infantry Division during World War II.
