West Stowe is a suburb in the Rural West district under the local government area of the Gladstone Region in Queensland. Early settlement of the area of West Stowe began in the 1850s, with most of the land being used for pastoral purposes. Today, the area of West Stowe is largely rural, and the land is used primarily for timber production, grazing and growing vegetables and fruits. West Stowe is close to state forests, which provide residents and tourists with space to do outdoor activities such as waling, hiking and picnicking. Visitors to West Stowe can check out Peakvale Performance Horses, an establishment that breeds and trains specific types of horses for athletics or other purposes. Tourists may also visit the nearby urban centres of Yarwun and Gladstone for their commercial needs.
