About Turkey Beach

Turkey Beach is a small town within the local government area of the Gladstone Regional Council in Queensland. The small, laid-back village is a known fishing spot and is situated on Rodds Bay. Turkey Beach is named after the bustard or bush turkey that was shot when Captain Cook’s crew discovered the area in 1770. The town became a popular fishing village because of its large areas of creeks, mangrove inlets and estuaries. Most of Turkey Beach’s natural habitats are protected and preserved by various entities, like the Eurimbula National Park. Pancake Creek, a nearby wilderness park that is located in Bustard Heed is a popular area for yachts and boats. Beachgoers can also enjoy a number of beaches outside Rodds Harbour.
